Uniforms

So i'm watching Sunday Night football between the Stillers and the Chargers and two things occur to me. There is only one Penn Stater on the field for this game and I actually saw him play at Beaver Stadium (Jeff Hartings), and the San Diego Chargers are wearing the COOLEST uniforms in all of professional sports, their retro powder blue jerseys and the white helmets with the numbers of the players on the side a la Alabama and Penn State in the 70's. Now I'm thinking, are the powder blue charger jerseys really that cool? or is it just marketing genius on the part of the Chargers to only wear them once a year, thus making them a rarity and as a result, increase their coolness. If the Chargers made the powder blue their permanent color, would they be as cool or would the novelty wear off and make them look all faggot and shit. Let's analyze this:

Do any other NFL teams wear powder blue or light blue? Nope. The closest we get is Jacksonville with their pretty cool turquoise, aqua color, but it's not close to powder blue. Carolina also wears a light blue which actually is a really nice color, but the silver helmet and that queer panther logo take away from it. So if the Chargers were to wear the powder blue every home game, it would still be original and thus keeping it as the best jersey in all of the NFL, but what about other sports?

In baseball, there is the Yankee pinstripes and rest. As much as the interlocking NY and pinstripes rule, the powder blue kicks its ass.

In the NBA, all jerseys suck.

In the NHL, we might get some stiff competition. The NHL, as unpopular as it is in this country, does have one thing over all....consistently cool jerseys. Hell, the NHL invented the concept of the third, or "alternate" jersey and since then, every other team in every other sport has adopted another jersey, except for the "old school retro" teams, like the Yankees and the Stillers, hell, even the Cowboys have an alternate jersey and helmet, but it looks like fried vomit. Anyways, back to the NHL. Let's look at the coolest jersey in the NHL, the Colorado Avalanche, which just barely beats out the away white of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the home dark blue of the Edmonton Oilers. It's purple, has lots of waves, a kickass logo, a really cool foot logo on the shoulders, and trippy lettering for the last name. Is it better than the powder blue? Really close call, but in the end I would say no. Now, ironically, the team that would eventually move to Denver and become the Avalanche, the Quebec Nordiques, had a jersey that would manhandle the Charger powder blue. Their jersey was light blue and had a fleur-de-lis (the N.O. Saints logo) on each shoulder. However the Nordiques don't exist aymore, so they are disqualified from this competition.

Now comes a sport that no one probably thinks of, but they have their fair share of coolness, Profesional European soccer. When it comes to this, Barcelona, the team of Ronaldinho, has the best jersey. However the powder blue kicks the crap out of all soccer jerseys for one reason....soccer jerseys have advertising on them. Fuck that capitalist shit!

So I guess I can say now with all confidence that the San Diego home retro powder blue jersey is the coolest jersey in ALL of professional sports.

Now, keep in mind this statement applies to only professional sports leagues. If we were to take all sports, then it would get crushed for one reason.

Penn State football has THE BEST HOME JERSEY...PERIOD!
